Referrals – Starting Your Journey With Us
We understand that choosing the right support can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. We are here to make the referral process as simple, transparent and supportive as possible.
We work in close partnership with local authorities, social workers, families and health professionals to ensure every referral is carefully considered and fully person-centred from the start.
Whether you’re exploring options for residential care, supported living, outreach or life skills development, we take time to understand what matters most, and how we can help.
How the Referral Process Works
1. Local Authority Referral
All of our adult services are accessed through referrals from the local authority. If you, your family member, or someone you support may benefit from our services, the first step is to speak with a care manager or social worker. They will assess needs and, if appropriate, make a formal referral to Autism Unlimited.
2. Initial Discussion
Once we receive the referral, our team will review the information and get in touch to learn more. We’ll talk with the individual, their family and professionals involved in their care to gain a deeper understanding of their needs, preferences, goals and support requirements.
3. Assessment and Visit
We’ll arrange a visit (either to one of our services or in the individual’s current setting) so we can meet in person, assess compatibility, and begin to build a picture of how we can best support them. This is a chance for everyone to ask questions and explore the environment at their own pace.
4. Matching and Planning
If we’re the right fit, we’ll work closely with the individual, their support network and the local authority to plan a smooth and well-supported transition. This includes creating a tailored support plan, agreeing on outcomes, and carefully managing timelines.
