Preparing for the future
Students transition to Portfield School Sixth Form where learning is personalised to meet individual needs and aspirations. The majority of our Sixth Form students are working below age-related expectations, and our accredited pathways focus on Functional Skills qualifications up to Level 2. This enables us to provide a highly supportive and meaningful curriculum tailored to students who benefit from a practical, skills-based approach to learning.
Our curriculum is firmly rooted in the Preparation for Adulthood outcomes, with a strong focus on Employability, Independent Living, Community Inclusion, and Health and Wellbeing. Students take part in a wide range of work experience opportunities, preparation for adulthood activities, and benefit from expert careers advice and guidance from our skilled Sixth Form team.
The Sixth Form offers access to excellent facilities, including fitness equipment, a rehearsal space, an art studio, an eSports studio, a purpose-built music studio, and a training kitchen. Through these experiences, students develop independence, confidence, and essential daily living skills, alongside opportunities to visit colleges, training providers, places of work, and leisure centres supporting a successful transition into adult life.
