As the school year draws to a close, Portfield School came together to celebrate the achievements of our students, both personal and academic, highlighting individual strengths and marking important transitions before the summer break.
This year’s celebration assemblies brought students, staff and families together to recognise progress across a wide range of subjects. Certificates were awarded in reading, writing, art, drama, music, physical education, science, maths, enrichment and preparing for adulthood, along with awards for students who successfully completed the Duke of Edinburgh programme. Each award reflected the diverse ways our young people engage with learning and the personal growth they’ve shown throughout the year.
The assemblies centred on celebrating what each young person brings to our school community. Staff highlighted achievements ranging from academic progress to increased confidence, creativity, communication and independence. The focus remained on meaningful development, the skills students have built, the challenges they’ve worked through, and the contributions they make to their classes and peers.
Student of the Year Awards
Each class also presented its Student of the Year award, recognising students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment, kindness, resilience or personal development. This included young people who have worked hard to overcome personal challenges, showing determination and self‑advocacy, as well as those whose positivity and presence brighten the room and make a noticeable impact on others.
Records of Achievement
All students received their Record of Achievement, capturing key moments, successes and contributions from the year. These records reflect Portfield’s person‑centred approach, celebrating communication, wellbeing, independence, creativity and academic learning in equal measure.

Celebrating Transitions
A special mention was given to Secondary students who will be leaving Portfield School at the end of term to continue their education at Portfield Sixth Form. Staff and families joined in a round of applause to recognise their hard work and to wish them well as they take this next step.
Looking Ahead
The end‑of‑year assemblies are an important moment in our school calendar, a chance to pause, reflect and celebrate before students begin their summer holidays. We are proud of every young person and grateful to the families and staff who support them throughout the year.
