Almost 23 years to the day after taking on his first care role for the National Autistic Society, Paul Thomas has joined our management team as Director of Adult Services.

Having successfully worked his way up the health and social care ranks from weekend bank support to Registered Manager and most recently in director-level roles, Paul brings a wealth of experience, particularly with autistic children and adults, from across a variety of organisations. Paul will be responsible for the delivery of our Adult Services strategy, which aims to increase our provision of innovative support as well as focusing on raising standards of what we do every day.

Paul commented: “I’m so pleased to be joining the Autism Unlimited family at such an exciting time in the development of our services. My priority will be to ensure we have a dynamic and confident team around us who have the tools and resources they need to not only do their job well, but to really enjoy doing it too whilst having every opportunity to learn and grow as a professional in this sector.

  • “I have big hopes and dreams for our adult services, looking at how we can involve the people we support more in the recruitment process as well as developing specific projects that will help our adults achieve their aspirations.”*

With Autism Unlimited already providing over 4,000 hours of care a week across the region, Paul will be exploring opportunities to expand our reach and to provide individualised support to more people.

In his extensive career working with autistic individuals he has achieved a range of social care qualifications, an MBA and a variety of leadership, management and coaching certifications.

Siún Cranny, CEO of Autism Unlimited, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Paul to this role which is a development within the charity to invest more in adult services, and to ensure they benefit from his breadth of knowledge and infectious energy, he is a great addition to our senior team”.
